The Trenton Kennel Club was formed in 1911, and became a recognized member club
of the American Kennel Club in 1928. The objectives of the Trenton Kennel Club are:
- to further the advancement of all breeds of pure-bred dogs;
- to encourage the scientific breeding and improvement of the quality of all pure-bred dogs;
- to support and contribute financially to scientific endeavors whose objects are destined for the care, cure and general welfare of all breeds;
- to conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows and obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club;
- to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials; and
- to conduct seminars and educational programs for all members and dog fanciers.

The Club's premiere annual event is an outdoor All-Breed Dog Show and Obedience Trial held in May
on the spacious and beautiful grounds of Mercer County Park in West Windsor Township, New Jersey.
This unique show site allows spectators the pleasure of seating on all four sides of every ring,
allowing an unimpeded view of each animal being judged. The 2010 show has a total entry of 2,805
dogs representing 158 different breeds or varieties, with 88 Obedience entries and 67
Rally entries.
According to the American Kennel Club, our 2008 show was the 16th largest all-breed dog show in the United States.
In addition to exhibitors, each year's show draws thousands of local
spectators, who enjoy not only the excitement of pure-bred dog competition, but also an incredible
array of vendors offering great food and plentiful shopping for almost every kind of dog-related
item you can imagine.
Membership While membership is unrestricted as to residence, the Club's primary purpose is to be representative of the breeders and exhibitors in its immediate area. Club meetings are held in or within 25 miles of the city of Trenton, New Jersey. Senior membership is open to all persons eighteen years of age and older who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes of the Club. Junior membership is open to all persons under eighteen years of age and bears all privileges of membership except the right to vote and the right to hold office. In order to be elected to membership, applicants must attend three Club meetings, have a member sponsor and obtain the endorsement of two other members, in addition to meeting other requirements.
